Abstract
This work is an adaptation of the methodologies based on Divisia indices with a logarithmic mean weight function called LMDI, given that in the absence of a paired sectoral classification of energy consumption records in distribution companies with the Added Value Gross Cantonal, the provinces are considered as economic sectors of the Ecuadorian economy, however the results show us the applicability of the data, in this context, the variation of the energy intensity index for the period 2011 to 2019 is 0.107587 TEP / USD, which when performing the decomposition of the variation of the energy intensity index, shows that the inter-sector changes have a greater participation with respect to the total variation of the index that are offset by the intra-sector changes during the period of analysis, while the decoupling Between energy consumption and the level of economic activity, Ecuador goes from one case from weak decoupling in 2011 to a strong decoupling in 2019, while in the middle of the period we are in periods of negative, strong and strong negative expansion.
