Evolution of the labor market and its impact on ecuadorian household economy

Abstract

The primary objective of this research is to analyze the evolution of the labor market in Ecuador and its impact on the economy of Ecuadorian households during the period 1991–2022. The study is based on a quantitative and correlational methodology, aiming to establish causal relationships and quantify the correlation level between variables. It employs documentary and descriptive research to investigate and describe phenomena without intervening in them. A non-experimental quantitative approach is used, gathering data from secondary sources and applying both descriptive and inferential statistical analysis techniques to examine the relationships between variables. Causal relationships were estimated through a VAR econometric model, with findings showing a significant unidirectional influence from GDP per capita on the unemployment variable.
