Abstract

The objectives of this study are to analyse the district of San Isidro in the 21st century, taking into consideration urban environmental development, urbanisation, and environmental care, and to ascertain the challenges for sustainability. The study is quantitative and longitudinal. A bibliometric analysis of the Web of Science and Scopus databases was used for the literature review. The district has been analysed between 2018 and 2023, with 33 public sources consulted, reviewed and validated. The study's findings indicate that San Isidro is promoting urban and environmental development through the programmes it has developed and the indicators it has reported. These programmes, thematic actions and indicators can be regarded as benchmarks for other districts. While the efforts developed are significant, further improvements are required, particularly in the areas of urban metabolism and eco-planning, with a particular focus on promoting urban sustainability in Latin America and the Caribbean.
