Abstract

This paper shows an explanation of the polychoric correlation calculus from ordinal data. For this purpose, latent variables are created from observe dones, these variables define thresholds in the normal distribution domain, which are used to calculate the correlations. Based on those conditions, we shall ilustrate the polychoric correlation applied to exploratory factor analysis for identifying a set of variables that affect customer satisfaction in the Postgraduate Department of a university.
